Incredible Accident Trucker Walks Away With Just a Scratch

A good friend of mine works for this company and I'm posting this because I find it incredible that anyone could have survived this accident let alone walk away with only a scratch. I drive past this very spot sometimes three times a night on some of my local runs. The driver of this tanker was was run off the road by a drunk driver. How is the diversity working out for everyone? I think it is quite plain to everyone which direction they have been taking us.

 In my point of view our politicians have gone insane with an absolute lust for power and money. They all seem to be complicit in the destruction of our country. The 2016 election is now close and everyone is wondering what will happen. Many have lost complete faith in our government. It seems that the news outlets have turned into a propaganda machine run by the government but you can still keep up with what is going on by going to a number of sources. Tax or Extortion

 The following is a little rant about the current tax system. Let's start by saying this, when you take something from someone without asking it's usually called stealing but when the government does it, it's called taxes! Why is it legal, because they said so!


Well Neil Boortz finally retired his radio talk show after some forty years of being on the radio and many folks probably do not even realize who Neil Boortz was or what he was about which is really too bad especially for working folks.

Neil and a Congressman had figured a way to rewrite the tax system and turn it into a consumption tax where a certain per cent of let’s say 25 per cent of everything that consumers spend would go for tax revenue. They claimed that this would do away with the current archaic tax system and increase the amount of revenue the government would acquire virtually getting rid of the deficit and giving our government a surplus of funds.

The bill to put the tax into effect almost passed a few years ago except by one vote. This was a somewhat complicated tax to explain in detail of which I do not know all the details. The write up for the tax had a means built into it for middle and lower income families to actually receive a rebate check each month from the government according to how much was spent on food and that type of consumable product.

There are many reasons this type of tax would have been beneficial for our country besides the fact it may have been able to wipe out our debt. For one thing every one would be paying into the system, not just the workers. Workers would take home their whole paycheck not just what the government decided they would keep. The current system has thousands of laws and new ones coming out yearly. The current system gives tax loop holes to business’s that the government likes and lets them pay little or no tax while penalizing the business’s they don’t like. Some of the largest corporations pay no taxes and even get refunds while others pay outrageous fees.

Consider the current system, if you don’t pay your income tax and the government finds out the IRS can seize your bank account and and any existing assets you may have and even put you in jail for as long as they see fit. No one even really knows who these folks are since it is a separate government entity.The government gives your money to who ever they see fit in some cases folks who just don’t want to work and you have no voice in the matter.

Back in the early 1900′s when some one wanted to open a business in some district let’s say the Italian district in New York, they would get a visit from some one or a group of thugs in the Mafia and they were told they had to pay to do business in that part of town for protection from either outside rivals or from the gangsters themselves. If they didn’t pay they were either robbed or beaten or both or possibly killed. That was called extortion and was a crime in itself.

There is a whole lot more that can be said on this issue but for starters let’s just compare the two scenarios above and consider for yourself what you think of the present tax system extortion or income tax

There are a number of talk radio hosts who are tolling the bell for Americans and trying to make them aware that their freedoms are slowly diminishing because of the current whacked out communist style government, complete with thirty something Czars.  What follows below is a letter from a Cuban refugee. If you happen to read this  remember this when you cast your vote.

When I was about 9 years old I remember asking my dad about Castro .
I asked, “Is Castro a good guy or bad?”Dad said…he couldn’t tell!! This was about 1955. We were living in Louisiana …at the time. Dad was in the Army and stationed there. Cuba was fairly close and in the news a lot. The Cubans were asking the same question! Ike was president.
This past July 4th, we had the pleasure of sharing a summer barbecue with a refugee from Cuba . Our dinner conversation was starkly different than most.
This refugee came to the United States as a young boy in the early 1960′s. His family was more fortunate than most, as they were able to bring a suitcase and $100 when they fled Castro’s newly formed revolutionary paradise.
Our dinner consisted of all-American fare: hamburgers, potato salad, fresh ears of sweet corn and watermelon. This is a menu shared with family and friends nationwide…while celebrating the birth of our beloved America …on the Fourth of July.
We began with a simple discussion about our country, and the direction it has taken since Barack Obama came to power. We shared the usual complaints about the sour economy and liberal social engineering emanating from the rulers in Washington .
But then he said it. The sentence flowed naturally from our refugee guest. I assume it was unplanned. But it carried the weight of a freight train.
“You know when Castro took power, none of us knew he was a Communist”.
We sat stunned. He continued, “Yes, we all thought he was a patriot, a nationalist. Before the revolution he didn’t sound like a radical.”
The comparison at this point was easy, and I interjected,
“You mean just like Barack Obama?”

He responded; “Yes, just like Barack Obama.” He continued, “We were all shocked as the government just continued to grab more power. First they said the revolution is over, so please turn in your guns. We all complied.”I also remember my uncle saying; “Castro will only nationalize some of the big industries. He will never come and take our family hardware store!!” But that is exactly what happened. Castro started with the sugar mills and the large industries, but they eventually came and knocked on the door of our family hardware store. My family had run this store for generations. They said we now own the hardware store, you work for us. And that four-bedroom home you own…it is now our property too. You have to move yourself and the five children into those two rooms of the house, because others are moving in here with you.”

The lesson learned from this discussion, is a lesson most Americans refuse to hear. Political leaders can lie about their agenda and once in office, they can take totally unexpected turns.

If you had asked us three years ago if we thought General Motors or Chrysler would be nationalized, we would have never believed it. We could never contemplate a country where the rule of law, the most fundamental building block of a justice society…would be evaporating, just like it did in Castro’s Cuba in the early 1960′s.

But the news of injustice keeps increasing;

Black Panthers are not charged with wrong doing by the U.S. Department of Justice…because their crimes are against whites;
The bond holders of GM are stripped of their assets…without being given due process by the government;
Car Dealerships are closed with out due process;
Governmental leaders are bribed in full daylight…only to have all investigation of the crimes stifled…by the Attorney General;
The U.S. borders are over run with crime and illegal activity, and the leaders in D.C. act as if it is important to protect the lawbreakers…while the innocent are killed and over run; When local communities attempt to enforce the law, they are ridiculed…and threatened as racists and bigots. They are sued by the very administration entrusted with enforcing the law. Without the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution is a sham!! Without the rule of law, our beloved America  is swiftly becoming a country where only the well connected and politically powerful will be safe. As an author recently and so eloquently explained in her most recent book…

a culture of corruption has replaced honest government” (Michelle Malkin).
The only way this problem will befixed, is by massive citizen action. All honest citizens that want to be treated equally, must come together…and demand that the favoritism, the bribes, the uneven enforcement of law end now and yes it can happen if we all pull together .And…may God save the United States of America!6 million plus Jews didn’t believe it could happen in Germany either!!! If you’re a Christian in these United States of America your probably next on the list.

History bares that out.The real problem here is, the boy from Cuba did manage to make it to the U.S.  Today he and we will not have any place to escape to.

AS A COUNTRY, HAVE WE BECOME THIS COMPLACENT? WILL YOU JUST TURN YOUR BACK AND LIVE WITH THE CONSEQUENCES? I HOPE NOT

Gun Control

 The following represents my own personal opinions on a very serious issue and you may not feel the same. Feel free to post your own comments below.

 Since I first wrote this there have been even more shootings one at a school in Connecticut and another at a school in Taft California. Both were gun free zones except for the sick deranged gunman leaving the poor innocent victims totally helpless. Why are there no armed security officials provided in these areas to take these individuals out before they can even start there senseless rampage!
Do you trust a government to disarm the law abiding citizens and if you do the following statistics may surprise you.

Well it seems  the crack pots are out in full swing again and once again a gun wielding freak went out and killed seven people up in Wisconsin early this morning. This was the second time in just a few short weeks that a nut case has gone and shot and killed a group of unarmed civilians. Of course the government will once again start its push to ban all guns or at least as many varieties as they are capable of banning. The trouble is always the same though, when the shooter starts firing there are no police or government officials around to defend the unarmed civilians. In the previous incident in Colorado a sign advertised that guns were banned from the movie theater so naturally law abiding citizens were at the mercy of a maniac and he knew it.
There is a lot to be said and that is being said about guns and gun laws. Hillary Clinton and O Bama have been working with the UN to try and figure a way take away our rights to own guns and not much is being said about that or perhaps you have not heard that. They plan to ram it down our throats like they did the health law bill and you can read about it here. This is very disconcerting indeed when you consider that the only real way for anyone to defend themselves against some maniac with a gun is with a gun and if you can’t own one then you have to wait until the officials show up who have one and we all know what happens by the time they show up, people are dead.
One thing to consider here is that I don’t see how our government officials can be making any kind of deal with the UN or any other establishment when they swore to uphold our constitution of the United States not Mexico or the UN. There was a time when that was considered treason.
Another consideration is do we trust our elected officials because we all know about Fast and Furious or do we since, they will not reveal who in our government had a part in selling guns to Mexican drug lords nor why and it seems to have been covered over like so many other scandals the government is involved with nowadays. The fact the attorney general is in contempt does not seem to matter either nor that the president himself got involved with an executive order blocking the documents from being revealed. It all sounds way too fishy to me. another question being asked is why did Homeland security purchase 800 million rounds of 40 caliber hollow point bullets last year? Those type of bullets are not used for target practice and cannot be used in war according to articles of the Geneva Convention.
My wife and I were trained in a carry and conceal class by an ex police officer who believed everyone who is capable of defending them self and obtaining a permit to carry a gun  should do so. Below are some sobering facts that every one in every country should be aware of. The folks in these countries probably said the same thing, it can’t happen here, but it did and this could effect everyone so here is a little gun history.
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

In 1911,  Turkey  established gun control… From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Germany  established gun control in 1938 and, from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.

China  established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated

Guatemala  established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Uganda  established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Cambodia  established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in  Australia  were forced by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own Government, a program costing  Australia  taxpayers more than $500 million dollars. The first year results are now in:
List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent.
Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of  Victoria  alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!
While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
You won’t see this data on the  US  evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late! 
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are ‘citizens’.  Without them, we are ‘subjects’.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade  America  because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this anti-gun control message to all of your friends.
The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. New Years Bang

Right around the fourth of January I had my first blowout of one of the super singles on my trailer. Needless to say I was stuck on route 65 southbound coming back with a load of fuel about 2 feet from the fog line for around five hours. The blowout bent the fender and cracked a weld and also put all my tail lights and turn signals out of commission. At least that was the biggest bang I heard that night.I don't know anyone personally who likes these new super singles.Hopefully that will be the most excitement I have all year !

Another Year Of Trucking Gone

Looks like we all made it through the December 2012 predictions of doom and gloom but no doubt some type of calamity is on the horizon. I surely hope not but did you know that...

On July 14th a massive solar flare hit the earth the second one to hit earth this month.  I had not been particularly concerned with solar flares until I came across some information that was described by Major Ed Dames an ex CIA agent. He claims that he once was the head of a classified operation developed by the military and they had found a way to read certain events in the future called remote viewing. They claim these events almost always take place however they do not have a way to predict the exact time except that they can forecast to a certain degree when things will happen in a sequence.
Remote viewers have actually forecast that the earth will eventually have a massive solar flare strike with enough power to completely wipe out our power grids and leave us without electricity. There are two warning signs that you may want to be aware of, first the North Koreans will set off a nuclear explosion, the next sign will be that a space shuttle probably from Russia will be forced down perhaps from a meteorite shower but the remote viewers can not say for sure.
Either way there is a lot of concern with what has been happening both in the atmosphere and with our economy so each of us must try to be prepared for any scenario that we may encounter and hope and pray that none of these evils befall us and if it does be as prepared as possible to deal with the potential threats. I have heard Major Dames speak and he does feel that prayer is one powerful tool that we may help us. Anyway we can sure hope so, in the meantime I'm going to bring a good bugout bag with me just in case.

 My old dog is still hanging in there and shows no sign of pain and I still have the same great job I've had for the last 8 years. I miss OTR sometimes but it was hard to run totally legal back then and impossible not to now a days and not worth it either.So much has changed in this industry, it almost looks like a new animal.
I sure have missed not having Mother call at 2 am for the last 2 years. This wreck was from a few years ago,
a friend of mine named Rob came over a rise in the road and a dump truck was stopped in his lane and that was the end of the road. for him. Keep it safe drivers.

Driver Forgot To Set Brakes

Have you ever forgot to set your brakes? Chances are you have if you have been driving for any length of time.That is one sinking feeling when you look up and see your truck start rolling down the road and you and no one else is in the drivers seat. One night I was fueling at one of our truck stops that is located on a hill. I looked up and there was a whole load of brand new trucks that were piggybacking heading down the hill rolling off of the fuel island. I didn't realize the driver was not in the cab until they crashed into a truck that was in the parked area, no doubt the driver was sleeping.
 A few days ago a new driver loaded his brand new company truck with fuel at a terminal and one of our company drivers said he looked up and the truck crashed through a fence and took off down a steep hill before slamming into a telephone pole. As it rolled over the embankment the oil pan was tore completely off the unit. He thought maybe the driver had a heart attack and started to run after the runaway truck but when he arrived at the scene no one was there. Looking back up the hill he saw the driver coming out of the bathroom pulling his pants up.

Trucking In The Northeast

Over the past few months I was sent up north to help out in some different areas. I spent about a month in Sturbridge Massachusetts, a couple weeks in Albany Ny, and  Kanona NY, and a few weeks in Carneys Point NJ. Things went pretty smooth the whole time I was gone. No bad accidents or any real problems occurred just the way we like things. The hardest part was getting used to the various time schedules that I had to work always starting on the day shift to get the loading cards I would need at the various loading terminals then shifting to the night shift which was invariably the spot where help was needed the most. We ran shifts from 11 to 11, 5 till 5 and 2 till 2. The most difficult shift I worked was from 2 A:M until 2 P:M. It was difficult getting up at 2 in the morning and right as the sun came up it became hard as he## to keep the eyes open. There was nowhere stop because I was running into Philadelphia most of the time. I was glad to finally get home but I noticed my old dog was not acting the same and took her to the vet. He told me her kidneys were starting to fail and I have had her for around 14 years now so it was hard news for me.He kept her on IV fluids for 3 days and she has come back around although she lost a lot of weight and I am trying not to think about what will inevitably happen.

First Recordable Incident In 27 Years

Well I finally bit the bullet and had my first incident in all these years . I'm not counting the light pole I took down when I first started trucking or the car that was parked in the no parking zone that I backed into 25 years ago. This was the real mccoy only thing was it was around 3 O'clock in the morning and there was not another vehicle on the 5 lane highway neither trucks nor cars anywhere. I didn't even know what was happening when a 4 wheeler slammed into my front passenger fender. He must have come up behind me and was going to pull one of those jackrabbit lane changes in front of me you know the ones I'm talking about, but he misjudged. Luckily no one was hurt and there was minimal damage to my truck but his pickup was a in a little rougher shape than my vehicle. Funny he didn't have a thing to say when the police came and I told them what happened but naturally he changed his story when he was speaking with the officer alone. Oh well Sh- t happens, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later just a matter of rolling the dice enough times. Be Safe

Trucking For Hayter Trucking

In 1983 I walked into Bob Calvin's office at Hayter trucking in Fellows California. I want to learn how to drive a truck I said. We don't train drivers here son was Bob's reply. Okay I said I will find someone who will and started walking out the door. Don't be so hasty he replied maybe we can give you a shot but you only have one week to learn and no pay. Be here at 5 O'clock tommorrow. Fair enough I said thanks.
The next morning at 5 I met my trainer Irish. He was a big man who had lost his left leg up to the thigh in Vietnam. We would be servicing drilling rigs which continually needed drilling mud hauled off and water hauled in. We were driving an old Mac and this was before the formula engine and the gear shift was a large round metal knob with a button on the side with 3 positions that read ID DIR and OD. To shift you would run through the low gears in Indirect then shift into high range or direct tach out the engine and flip the button to overdrive tach it out which would increase your speed by about 5 miles per hour then drop to the next gear flipping the button back to direct and repeating the procedure. I think the transmission was a Dana Spicer but I usually didn't take a lot of notice to things like that except when something needed fixing
Three days and 50 hours of driving later Irish took me to the office and told Bob I was ready to drive. I am not trying to brag but everything just came natural the rest I would have to learn on my own. A week later I had my liscense and yes they paid me.
I became good friends with Irish and his wife and 3 girls. Most of the drivers used to get together and have a beer at one of our houses. There was a different atmosphere of companionship back then. One day a couple years later Irish showed up dressed in a suit and declined to drink with us and even stated he had quit smoking and started going to church. We sat and talked for awhile then he left. A few weeks later he had a massive heart attack in front of his wife and died.

Wow Been Awhile

I haven't posted anything for awhile but things sure heated up this year in more ways than one. In my personal life an Aunt passed away shortly after the last posting.
We had the flood of Nashville and mother passed away May 25th from cancer. We have a few more months to go hope they will get better. I am thankful to still be working and on a brighter note I learned how to put a camcord movie on youtube.
